A New Roof Over His Head
Dana Dronet’s roof was damaged from Hurricane Ida in 2021 and he worried every time it rained. But, thanks to a Disaster Rebuilding Assistance (DRA) grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas), he has a new roof.
“Every time it rained, we were worried that the roof would cave in,” said Mr. Dronet’s caregiver, Corina Ladnier. “Now, thanks to you guys, we have nothing to worry about.”
DRA provides up to $12,000 per homeowner for the repair or reconstruction of owner-occupied housing in federally declared disaster areas within the FHLB Dallas five-state District of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas.
Like all FHLB Dallas programs, DRA funds are awarded through FHLB Dallas member institutions. Mr. Dronet worked with Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast to apply for the grant through The First Bank and received a $10,000 DRA grant to replace his roof.
“The DRA is an important tool to help our communities recover and rebuild,” said Lauren Wilson, community development analyst at The First Bank. “The funds have helped in the economic rehabilitation of communities along the Mississippi Gulf Coast after Hurricane Ida wreaked havoc.”
