Additional $1.27 Million Added to Small Business Boost Program, Bringing the Total Available in 2024 to Assist Small Businesses to $4.27 Million

Due to the overwhelming success of the Small Business Boost (SBB) program, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (Bank) is pleased to announce an additional $1.27 million in funds will be made available to the program this year, bringing the total availability in 2024 to $4.27 million.

SBB was launched in 2019 to provide recoverable assistance to finance the startup or expansion of qualified small businesses. SBB funds are intended to help participating members provide financing for qualified small businesses by filling the gap between what the member can finance, and the loan request made by an eligible small business. SBB is provided to members as a secondary, unsecured loan in conjunction with a loan made by the member to the small business.

In 2024, the Bank initially made $3 million available to members to provide secondary loans to their customers. So far this year, the Bank has approved 44 loans totaling more than $2.8 million.

About SBB
Typical uses of the program include the startup or expansion of a small business, including building purchase, land acquisition, construction, equipment, working capital and other related uses. As small businesses grow and repay the loans, funds are recycled back into the SBB program to be reinvested in other small businesses, demand permitting, which can create more jobs over time. Receipts of principal and interest in 2023 totaling $1.27 million are now being made available to fund new SBB loans. Funds are available until they are exhausted or December 6, 2024, whichever occurs first.

SBB Requirements

  • Must create or retain one job for every $62,500 in SBB funds
  • Maximum loan amount is the lesser of $125,000 or 50 percent of the member’s loan amount
  • The business must be an eligible small business by SBA standards
  • The member must be approved for enrollment prior to registration of its first small business
