The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas and Members Award More Than $160K to 13 Louisiana Community Organizations

FHLB Dallas’ Partnership Grant Program Provides 3:1 Match of Members’ Donations

DALLAS, TEXAS, September 28, 2023 – Louisiana community-based organizations received $160,250 from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) and 14 member institutions. A total of $557,250 was awarded to community organizations through its annual Partnership Grant Program (PGP). View the award recipients.

“With its matching funds, our Partnership Grant Program gives our members added leverage to support local nonprofits,” said Greg Hettrick, senior vice president and director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas. “Our members are very supportive of local community organizations, and we are proud to provide funds that help with their endeavors.”

Under the program, FHLB Dallas member institutions contribute $500 to $4,000 to a nonprofit, which FHLB Dallas matches at a 3:1 ratio to provide up to $12,000 to the organization per member. The awards help promote and strengthen relationships between community-based nonprofits and FHLB Dallas members. 

The following community-based organizations were supported in Louisiana:

  • Central Louisiana Business/Cares (Alexandria, Louisiana) - $8,000, Member: Red River Bank
  • America, My Oyster Association (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) - $10,000, Member: Home Bank
  • Acadiana Veteran Alliance (Lafayette, Louisiana)  - $12,000, Member: Home Bank
  • The Hub: Lafayette Urban Ministries (Lafayette, Louisiana) - $12,000, Member: Home Bank
  • West 30's Redemption Company (Mandeville, Louisiana) - $46,250, Members: BankPlus, Citizens Bank & Trust, Fidelity Bank, Fifth District Savings Bank, Gulf Coast Bank & Trust, Hancock Whitney, Home Bank, Metairie Bank & Trust, Red River Bank, Resource Bank, The First Bank
  • 18th Ward  (New Orleans, Louisiana) - $10,000, Member: Home Bank 
  • Corporate Internship Leadership Institute (New Orleans, Louisiana) - $10,000, Member: Home Bank
  • New Orleans Regional Black Chamber of Commerce (New Orleans, Louisiana) - $6,000, Member: Home Bank
  • Bread of Life Community Development Corporation of Louisiana (Oakdale, Louisiana) - $2,000, Member: First Federal Bank of Louisiana
  • North Louisiana Growth and Development Foundation (Ruston, Louisiana) - $8,000, Member: Origin Bank
  • The Highland Center (Shreveport, Louisiana) - $4,000, Member: Community Bank of Louisiana
  •  East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity (Slidell, Louisiana) - $22,000, Members: Fidelity Bank, Red River Bank, Resource Bank 
  • Our Friends Closet (Slidell, Louisiana) - $10,000, Member: Home Bank 
“As a community bank, we focus heavily on supporting grassroots organizations in our communities that are doing good for others, and FHLB Dallas’ Partnership Grant Program allows us to multiply our efforts with its 3:1 matching grant,” said Shelia Grayson, vice president, CRA and community development officer, at Origin Bank. “This partnership with FHLB Dallas fosters positive relationships with small nonprofits that may struggle to raise operational and administrative funding.”

The PGP may be used for:
  • Organizational capacity building
  • Assistance with applying for grants and other funding sources
  • Research and studies
  • Contractual services
  • General operating expenses
